Alphagan Z Ophthalmic Solution 0.1% (5 ml) – Product Description
Safeguard your vision and manage eye pressure with Alphagan Z Eye Drops, a premium prescription formulation by AbbVie. Engineered specifically for patients requiring long-term treatment for open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension, Alphagan Z delivers maximum efficacy with a low-dose 0.1% Brimonidine Tartrate formula. By pairing its dual-action pressure control with the proprietary Purite® preservative system, these drops provide excellent therapeutic results while minimizing the surface irritation, redness, and dry-eye symptoms commonly triggered by traditional eye drops.

Active Ingredients & Composition

According to the visible side panel packaging, each ml contains:
  • Brimonidine Tartrate IP (1 mg / 0.1% w/v): An alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that decreases intraocular pressure (IOP) by reducing fluid production and increasing natural fluid outflow drainage.
  • Stabilized Oxychloro Complex (Purite®): An advanced, gentle preservative system that breaks down into natural tear components (water and sodium chloride) upon contact with light on the eye surface, lowering the risk of chemical allergy or stinging.

Key Benefits

  • Low-Dose High Efficacy: Utilizes a highly refined 0.1% concentration to reliably stabilize internal intraocular pressure (IOP).
  • Dual Fluid Control: Lowers the overall volume of fluid (aqueous humor) created inside the eye while stimulating alternative drainage pathways.
  • Advanced Purite® Preservative: Dissipates quickly on the ocular surface into harmless natural tear components, maximizing comfort for sensitive eyes.
  • Optic Nerve Shielding: Consistent pressure regulation actively stops structural damage to the optic nerve, helping to preserve long-term vision.

Directions for Use

  1. Wash your hands comprehensively with soap and water before handling the product box or bottle.
  2. Tilt your head backward, look upward toward the ceiling, and gently pull down your lower eyelid to generate a small pocket.
  3. Invert the dropper bottle and squeeze a single drop into the pocket. Do not let the tip touch your eye, hands, or external surfaces to avoid bacterial contamination.
  4. Close your eye gently and apply soft, steady pressure with a clean finger to the inner corner of your eye (near your nose) for 1 to 2 minutes to reduce systemic absorption.
  5. If wearing contact lenses: Remove them prior to application and wait a minimum of 15 minutes before reinserting.
