Primary Veterinary Indications
- Traumatic Bleeding: Severe blood loss resulting from accidents, deep lacerations, or physical trauma.
- Surgical Hemostasis: Controlling capillary and tissue bleeding during or immediately following major surgical operations.
- Postpartum Hemorrhage: Managing severe uterine or reproductive tract bleeding after calving or lambing.
- Hemalactia (Blood in Milk): Treating ruptured capillaries within the mammary glands of high-yielding dairy livestock.
- Epistaxis: Controlling severe nosebleeds, particularly in working or performance horses.
Administration & Suggested Dosage
- Route of Administration: Intramuscular (IM) or Slow Intravenous (IV) injection only.
- Standard Dosing: Typically administered at 10 mg to 15 mg per kg of body weight (approx. 1 ml per 10 kg body weight) once or twice daily depending on the severity of the bleeding, or as directed by a licensed veterinarian.
- IV Precaution: When using the intravenous route, inject the solution very slowly to prevent transient hypotension (sudden drop in blood pressure).
